A CLEAR START
Support & getting started
Email [email protected] with your store domain and a description of the issue. Include the affected rule or order reference when relevant. Never send your Shopify password, access tokens or payment card details.
Before you start
Checkout blocks require a supported Shopify Plus checkout. Install through Shopify, then open ConsentLedger from Apps in Shopify admin. No separate ConsentLedger account is required. An active paid subscription is required; see plans and prices.
Set up your first rule
- Open Agreements to review the merchant terms and Data Processing Agreement. An authorized representative must accept before publishing rules. Download the confirmation for your records.
- Open Billing, choose a plan and review the subscription in Shopify. Starter offers a first eligible 3-day trial.
- Open Rules and select Create rule. Give the rule a useful title and write the request shown to buyers.
- Choose a checkbox, text field or selection, and configure required answers and targeting. Preview the buyer-facing wording.
- Save and enable the rule. Saved drafts do not change the live checkout until publication succeeds.
- Open Settings → Checkout → Customize. Add the ConsentLedger checkout block, allow it to block checkout and save before publishing required rules. The checkout block lets buyers submit their answers.
- Return to Rules and publish your changes. Publishing activates server validation and order evidence copying. Confirm the block is available before turning on required rules so buyers can complete them.
- Test a matching cart. Confirm the question appears, a missing required response prevents completion, and a valid response permits checkout.
- After a test order completes, open Evidence to check the retained response and published rule text associated with that order.
Optional storefront block
Open Online Store → Themes → Customize. Choose a product or cart template, select Add block → Apps → ConsentLedger, and save. Theme blocks collect draft responses. Buyers confirm their final responses at checkout; a theme block alone is not checkout enforcement.
Find and export evidence
Use Evidence filters to locate retained records by order, rule, customer identifier or date. Growth and Pro include CSV export. Pro also includes API and webhook exports from Integrations. Exports must be handled according to your own privacy obligations.
Plans and changes
Starter includes 5 enabled rules, 1 language and 90-day evidence retention. Growth includes 30 rules, 5 languages, 365-day retention and CSV export. Pro includes unlimited rules and languages, subject to Shopify platform limits, 730-day retention, CSV, API and webhook exports. Annual Growth and Pro have the same feature limits as their monthly equivalents. Existing evidence keeps its original retention deadline. Review billing changes in Shopify before approving a new subscription.
If a question does not appear
Check that the subscription is active, the rule is enabled and published, the cart matches its conditions, and the checkout block and validation are configured. Verify compatibility with your Shopify plan. Use the app’s publication status and setup checklist to identify incomplete steps.
Privacy requests
Requests delivered by Shopify appear in the app’s Privacy requests page. Review the relevant retained records and complete your merchant response. Read our privacy policy for retention and deletion details.
